Allegro Breeze by Tiffin Motorhomes
Small is the new big
"Do you sell a smaller Tiffin Motorhome with all the amenities of the Phaeton and Allegro Bus, just scaled down - one I can drive?”
We have heard this question many times before including buzzwords such as “downsizing” and “fuel economy”. Tiffin Motorhomes has satisfied this demand with its introduction of the Allegro Breeze.
The Allegro Breeze has a lot of specific characteristics and features. Rear diesel engine; good fuel economy; low to the ground for easy entrance and exits, pass through storage in the basement; air suspension; air brakes; 70-gallon fresh water tank; 60-70 gallon fuel tank and at least one slide. One critical feature was missing – the chassis. Tiffin Motorhomes worked in tandem with Gary Jones, who provided the design and engineering for the PowerGlide chassis.
The result: a new version of the PowerGlide chassis scaled down to meet the critical features of the Allegro Breeze. Side-by-side they do not look alike. However rearranged in different places, the Breeze’s chassis has the same components that have made the big PowerGlide a huge success. The chassis is built with heavier parts than you usually get on a class A motor home of this size. If you are ready to downsize- you are going to love this chassis.
Since Bob Tiffin pushed hard for a downsized rear diesel engine motor home with most of the amenities that are in the Phaeton, he personally tested the Allegro Breeze by driving approximately 500 miles; “The handling characteristics are very similar to our front engine gas models. The steering is very responsive. If you have been driving a Phaeton or an Allegro Bus, it may take a little getting used to. Overall I was well satisfied with the way the Allegro Breeze handled. The Breeze stops better and quicker than anything we build today and without nose-diving. The Breeze’s acceleration is very good – no problem with ramp acceleration to merge into interstate traffic or with moving into the passing lane to get around slower traffic.” Bob also towed a 4,000 lb. Chevy Malibu for 70 miles and he could hardly tell the car was back there during acceleration, cruising and braking.
Allegro Breeze currently is available in the 28-foot floor plan 28BR and the 32-foot floor plan. The Allegro Breeze 28BR and Allegro Breeze 32BR feature the MaxxForce 7 diesel engine built by Navistar. It has 215-hp with 560 lb.-ft of torque at 1400 rpm. The Allegro Breeze respectfully gets between 13 and 16 mpg, depending on load and individual driving habits. The size of the engine will exempt it from the urea additive requirement that affects Tiffin’s larger brands. The Onan 6-kw Quiet Diesel generator will provide enough power for everything in the coach. The Allegro Breeze 32BR offers two slide-outs; one for the galley and sofa and one for the queen-size bed.
